MATERIALECOLOGY at MIND08 Symposium
MIND08 is the Design and the Elastic Mind Symposium, sponsored by MoMA, SEED and Parsons, the New School for Design. The event brings together artists, designers and scientists to discuss and reflect upon ways in which to read, act and reflect upon design through technological innovation and applied science. I will be presenting my recent work now on display at the Museum of Modern Art, on Friday, April 4th.
From the website: Collaboration between science and design is yielding a radical new way of visualizing, understanding, and manipulating the natural world. MIND08 is a conference, presented by Seed and MoMA and inspired by Design and the Elastic Mind, which aims to catalyze this convergence. Bringing together an eclectic group of speakers and participants, including leading scientists, designers, and architects, the conference will explore topics such as the personal genome, brain visualization, generative architecture, and collective design. MIND08 is an opportunity to interact with the ideas and thinkers transforming our visual and intellectual landscape.
The event is organized by Adam Bly - SEED's founder, CEO and Editor-in-Chief, and Paola Antonelli - one of the leading curators in the Department of Architecture and Design, MoMA. The list of speakers is promising. Amongst others, here is a partial list of friends and colleagues which will be presenting: Ben Aranda, Jessica Banks, Erik Demaine, Marc Fornes, Hugh Herr, Chuck Hoberman, Natalie Jeremijenko, Chris Lasch, Greg Lynn and Kevin Slavin.
I will be presenting my recent research in a talk entitled: Making Difference.
